When a Story Begins to Take Shape
It all begins with a small thought,
one that no one else yet knows.
A scene imagined in the mind.
A shape that suddenly comes to heart.
A wish to be woven into it,
a feeling waiting to be shared.
Gathering these pieces one by one,
I bring my hands to work,
slowly giving them form.
Sometimes, things do not turn out
the way I had imagined,
and I find myself pausing along the way.
I think, I try, I make adjustments,
and then I think again.
Through these small changes,
one after another,
a creation gradually begins to emerge.
What you see here
are pieces of Sou-shin-gu
still making their way toward completion.
They are not yet finished.
Their forms, and the stories they will tell,
are still taking shape, little by little.
And yet,
because they are not yet complete,
they hold countless possibilities.
What will they become?
What feelings will they carry?
What story will they bring
when they finally journey
into someone’s life?
Even I, the one who creates them,
do not yet know all the answers.
There is only one thing I know.
I will not forget the feelings
I wish to place within them.
I will continue to face each emerging form
with those feelings close to heart.
Hoping that one day,
these little fragments
will become a piece of Sou-shin-gu,
and find their way into someone’s heart.
And so, once again,
time flows on,
as another story takes shape.
— Until a Story Takes Shape.
For the journey toward completion
is itself
an important part of the story
of making things by hand.
